I. Rice & Company raises $101,150 at golf tournament

September 22, 2016 – Egg Harbor Township, NJ – The 8h Annual I. Rice & Company Golfing for Good Tournament was held on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Linwood Country Club. The tournament raised $101,150 to benefit The Arc of Atlantic County’s Recreational Program and Case Management Services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.  Approximately 140 golfers, including many athletes from The Arc’s golf program, participated in the tournament.

This year’s tournament was once again presented by I. Rice & Company, a nationally known Philadelphia-based manufacturer of fountain syrups, bakery fillings, and ice cream toppings.  Cape Bank Charitable Foundation was also a presenting sponsor of the event.

“Without the amazing support from our business partners and sponsors, this exciting event would have never grown as it has over the last 5 years,” said Steve Kuhl, President and CEO of I Rice & Company, “Our Company has never been more committed to continue this great endeavor in support of The Arc of Atlantic County.”

The I. Rice & Company Golfing for Good Tournament began in 2009, when The Arc was approached by local Margate resident, Irv Singer who thought he could raise $10,000 through a golf tournament for The Arc.  That first year, they more than doubled that goal and the tournament has continued to be successful each year, raising more than $513,000 for The Arc of Atlantic County.

“When our case management funding was cut we knew we had to find a way to continue this valuable service. Thanks to the money raised from the I. Rice & Company Golfing for Good tournament we can continue to offer case management support to assist people in obtaining and accessing services that sustain and improve their health and well-being.” said Scott Hennis, The Arc’s Chief Operating Officer. “The Arc’s Recreation Program continues to be one of our most popular services among the people we support, providing more than 300 people with recreational opportunities. The money raised will help us expand recreational opportunities so that more people can participate in this worthwhile service”.
